Deniz Karaca will represent Australia at the World Chocolate Masters 2013
The World Chocolate Masters is the most prestigious competition for maitre chocolatier in the world. This international premium competition is solely dedicated to the art of chocolate, and was born in 2005, after the merger of "Le Grand Prix International de la Chocolaterie" and the "International Belgium Chocolate Award". Le Grand Prix International de la Chocolaterie it's the one that launched Andrea Slitti in the Olympus of Gods of chocolate: after winning the Gold Medal in 1991, Andrea become part of the jury of the World Chocolate Masters, and this year in Paris there will be pastry chef Deniz Karaca to represent Australia.

Deniz is the executive pastry chef for Epicure Group, based at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and participating as a contestant to the World Chocolate Masters was one of his dreams since he attended the event in 2005, when he was still studying. Kahas a master certificate from Master Patisserie college in Cologne, Germany. He had his initial training in Germany, followed by extensive experience in a number of 5 dining restaurants with 5 star establishments abroad as well as in Australia.

In Paris, each of the contestants will have to create one chocolate showpiece, one moulded praline, one dessert and one pastry all within 7 hours, whilst keeping their work area absolutely spotless, under the scrutiny of celebrity chefs and chocolate masters from around the world.

In 2011, pastry chef Seung Yun Lee from Savour Chocolate & Patisserie School Melbourne arrived fourth at the finals in Paris, and we all wish good luck to Deniz, hoping that he could finally bring back a medal for Australia.
